«Metallica»
A world-famous American metal group «Metallica» was formed in autumn of 1981 in Los Angeles. Fans of " Metallica" from all over the world are still very grateful to James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich that the musicians, regardless of all difficulties connected with formation of the line-up of the group, didn't give up and, after all, created a really talented team.
In 1982, when the group was completely formed, «Metallica» recorded several demos and at the first time they performed on the minor stage in an educational institution. The same year the group at full lineup moved to San Francisco and in 1983, after the journey to New York, they signed a contract with Megaforce Records.
Under this label in 1983 " Metallica" released the first album «Kill 'Em All» that although was not initially a financial success, earned the group a growing fan base. A year later the second album of the group «Ride The Lightning» was recorded and released. Owing to it the group entered the big stage as it was rather successful and managed to attract attention of not only the public and critics but also major record companies.
One of them was label Elektra with which the group signed a contract. And in 1986 there was released their third studio album entitled «Master of Puppets» that was acknowledged by the critics as not only the best album of «Metallica» but also one of the best heavy-metal albums of this musical style of all time.
However, a year of 1986 was marked by not only a real success of the group but also became a year of a great tragic event. During the European tour a bus with the group's members flipped on a slippery road and the band lost one of their musicians - the bassist Cliff Burton who was killed before his friends very eyes. However «Metallica» didn't break off their tour and, with a heartache having found a replacement for Burton in a person of Jason Newsted, they continued their performances.
Immediately after the tour there were recording of new albums, live concerts, videos shooting and different awards, including Grammy nominations. The beginning of the 1990s was very successful for the group - «Metallica» gained huge profits from sales and their popularity spread out far more than borders of the USA. In 1991 they released their famous «The Black Album» that immediately reached the number-one on the Billboard chart and lasted there for almost a month.
«The Black Album» in every respect became the most successful album of «Metallica», by 2010 it was listed as the best-selling album of all time in the territory of the USA. The most famous singles of the album such as «The Unforgiven» and «Nothing Else Matters» were marked by almost all significant charts of the country as well as overseas.
One can speak freely that the 1990s were the golden age of «Metallica» who, in spite of difficulties, line-up changes, public scandals and the fact that not every released album was a success, nevertheless, entered triumphally a new century and became a classic of heavy metal. Numerous singles, albums and videos of the group entered the annals of music history and the group itself became an example to follow for many newcomer bands.
