Backstreet Boys
This band, which was initially consisted of five guys from Orlando, can be called “heart breakers” of most of teen girls of the 90s without any doubts and hesitation. During the years of their striking career BSB band got abundance of groupies. However, none of these five boys thought about that in the very beginning when time to time three talented American upperclassmen (Howie Dorough, A.J. McLean, Nick Carter) took part in various live auditions. Later two another guys joined them – cousins Kevinn Richardson and Brian Littrell. And all these boys were called Backstreet Boys, or “boys from the backstreet”. This unpretentious title became known throughout the world within the nearest years. The strong personality of each band member, their evident talent, well-selected musical direction and producers’ foresight laid the foundation of the stunning career in the world pop-music.
The band works, strange to say, were not popular in USA at first, but many European countries took an interest in them. Moreover, the first single “We've Got It Goin' On”, released in September 1995, took the stable position on the charts’ tops in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other European countries. From this moment on the band’s popularity started growing fast. Their first album Backstreet Boys (1996) provided them the status of one of the most popular artists in Europe.
Releasing hits both at the European and world levels, the band took on the popularity. They released albums Backstreet's Back (1997) and Millenium (1999). The peak of the BSB popularity fell on the years of these albums’ release. This stage of the band work, which was the most hard-driving, was concluded by the album Black & Blue (2000). In 2001, the band released the album of hits and unpublished songs titled The Hits: Chapter One and stopped its active work for some period of time.
Band’s reunion took place in 2004, and in 2005, BSB released the album Never Gone met by musical critics with a mixed reception. In 2006, the quintet became the quartet as Kevinn left the band. The guys released the album Unbreakable (2007) without his participation. These two albums, released after a long period of time, sounded different in comparison with the BSB’s previous works. The singers saved their style but tried to make it more serious than that in their early works. In any way, they decided to leave their latest album This Is Us (2009) without experiments and to get back to the original style. Despite the modern musical world has hundreds of similar boys bands, new musical trends and directions become popular, “boys from the backstreet” took up the strong position and continue to please their fans with new songs. The year 2011 is marked with a joint tour with a popular band New Kids on the Block, during which both bands will present their most famous hits in USA and Canada. NKOTBSB Tour is slated for summer, 2011.
