Snoop Doggy Dogg
A famous American rapper, actor and producer Snoop Doggy Dogg went a standard way from a street fighter to a world star. However, the criminal past of Snoop gradually turned into the criminal present that, nevertheless, didn't make him less popular among admirers of rap, hip-hop and associated directions.
Shortly after graduating from school where, by the way, children from generally well-to-do and problem-free families were studying, Snoop Doggy Dogg decided not to bother himself with obtaining a profession and became a real ringleader of society parties already at that time reading and recording his first rap compositions. As the night life of California was full of alcohol and drugs, Snoop from time to time drew great attention of the police and even several times was arrested for possession of illegal substances.
In 1991 the 20-year musician met the famous Dr. Dre and a year later he participated in the recording of a soundtrack to the film «Deep Cover», and in 1993 Snoop Doggy Dogg released his personal debut album under title «Doggystyle» that already was awaited for by numerous fans of the performer. This album turned out at the first position of the American album chart and later was certified multi-platinum. In the same 1993 Snoop was among the winners of the annual MTV Video Awards, though at the moment of ceremony the musician was arrested on a charge of murder. Later, in 1996 he was acquitted of all charges and the incident was acknowledged as self-defence.
The criminal scandal around the performer didn't reduce but, on the contrary, added him popularity. In 1996 Snoop Doggy Dogg recorded his third studio album «Tha Doggfather». The disc was dedicated to famous Tupac Shakur but, notwithstanding that it started from the first place on the Billboard 200, the album didn't have a significant financial success.
In 1998 the rapper signed a contract with «No Limit Records» and removed from his stage name a word «Doggy», henceforward naming himself just Snoop Dogg. He recorded some more albums and began to act in films, simultaneously recording soundtracks and releasing new singles. He also from time to time appeared on TV, having become a founder of his own TV-shows and in 2005 he founded his own production company.
His interest in outside spheres didn't interfere with the musical activity of Snoop and in 2004 he topped the Billboard Hot 100 with his single «Drop It Like It’s Hot» that was nominated for Grammy Award. It is interesting that in 2009 Snoop Dogg was noticed in collaboration with the Russian rapper Timati that resulted in a track entitled «Groove On» and a video with participation of the famous American. Like any other popular musician he travelled almost all over the world performing with the most famous rappers of the modern times. Today Snoop Dogg is one of the most authoritative representatives of the American rap and his annual profit from musical and other activities amounts to about 15 million dollars. For all that he continues acting in films and recording albums in his unique recognizable manner.
