Pop diva, one of the most sexual women of the planet, a successful business lady, talented singer, dancer and actress – this is all about her, matchless and charming Jennifer Lopez.
Jennifer was born in a modest Puerto Rican family and spent her childhood in the Bronx, one of the poorest parts of New York. To avoid a negative influence of the rough district on their daughter, parents sent her to a dance studio. At the age of five Jen started dancing and doing gymnastics, and later, singing. When she was 18, Jennifer decided to bring into life her dream of being an actress. Jennifer Lopez started her way to the glory with working as a backup dancer for such artists as New Kids on the Block, Marc Anthony, and Janet Jackson. Then she had small parts in TV series. Jennifer Lopez played her first title role in the film Selena in 1997. Apart from a Golden Globe Award nomination, this role brought Jen US$ 1,000,000. Despite Jennifer Lopez had a great choice of roles to play after this film, she decided to concentrate on her music career.
Her debut album On the 6 was released in 1999. Jennifer’s musical debut turned to be very successful. The album was sold out and Jennifer earned several important music awards (for example, Billboard Music Awards in The Best Video Clip nomination for the song «If You Had My Love»). The most popular tracks of this album were «If You Had My Love», «Let's Get Loud», «Waiting for Tonight», and «No me ames» (duet with Marc Anthony). The second album of the hot beautiful woman, titled J.Lo., was released in 2001. This album is regarded as one of the most successful in the singer’s career. It topped many prestigious charts and a track «Love Don’t Cost a Thing» is considered to be the best single of the album. Singles «Play» and «I’m Real» featuring a famous rapper Ja Rule were also popular with listeners. Jennifer Lopez released her third album This Is Me… Then in 2002. The album was in the list of the most popular albums of USA during 40 weeks. The most popular tracks were «Jenny from the Block», «I’m Glad», «All I Have» (featuring LL Cool J). The next album, titled Rebirth (2005), was not a great commercial success. Fans liked singles «Get Right» and «Hold me down» but the album’s sales were very poor. Como ama una mujer (2007) was the first Spanish language album of Jennifer Lopez. As opposed to the previous album, this one was very successful for the singer. The song «Que Hiciste?» became the first single of this album. In 2007, Lopez released her next English language CD titled Brave. In this album Jennifer got back to the musical direction that she started her work with - R&B. The most popular singles were «Hold It Don’t Drop It» and «Do It Well». Jennifer Lopez’s seventh album is titled Love? Its release is slated for May 2011. Several tracks have already gained favour with the audience, namely the song «On the Floor» – a modern version of the popular hit «Lambada» featuring Pitbull and «I'm Into You» recorded with the popular rapper Lil Wayne.
Pitbull
Pitbull is a stage name of American rapper and songwriter Armando Christian Pérez . The performer himself explains his stage name, saying that «pit bulls are trained to grab and not let go. These dogs are too stupid to lose. We have a lot in common». Pitbull’s music career started in 2004 with his debut album «M.I.A.M.I.» (Money Is a Major Issue) that peaked at #14 in American chart and was certified gold. The singles from the album included «Culo», «That's Nasty», «Back Up», «Toma» and «Dammit Man».
In 2006 the entertainer released his second album «El Mariel». The rapper dedicated it to his late father who died shortly before. The album wasn’t an extraordinary success and sank well to oblivion, hardly selling two hundred thousand copies. The same destiny awaited his third album «The Boatlift» (2007).
First more or less noticeable success came to the performer after the release of fourth album «Rebelution» (2009). By that moment Perez got signed to a larger record label and also started his own one. The album had five singles: «Krazy», «I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)», «Hotel Room Service», «Shut It Down» and «Can't Stop Me Now», and reached #8 in American chart and suddenly hit Canada, Mexico and Europe, getting a gold status like the debut one. In this respect (and also remembering about his Cuban roots), Pitbull decided to make the next album completely in Spanish. «Armando», named not after the performer, but his father, was released in 2010 and got seven Latin Billboard nominations.
On finishing with Latin American market, the entertainer got back to the English-speaking market and invited many famous producers and performers to work on the next album, and every track was made as a potential single. Thorough preparation had a beneficial effect on the result: «Planet Pit» (2011) reached #7 in American charts and is now the most successful album of the rapper, being certified platinum in Canada and having sold over three hundred thousand copies in the USA. In «Planet Pit» Perez worked with Ne-Yo, Enrique Iglesias, Jamie Foxx, Chris Brown, Kelly Rowland and others. The album got rather positive reviews, saying that a long list of guest stars made «Planet Pit» a kind of compilation of the best hits and a potential bestseller. The album yielded four singles: «Hey Baby (Drop It to the Floor)», «Give Me Everything», «Rain Over Me» and «International Love».
