Jadakiss is a rapper from New York, a Nigerian by origin. First of all, he is known for his participation in the well-known band «D-Block», which includes such acts as Sheek Louch, Styles P and J-Hood.
Jadakiss (born Jason Phillips) became interested in music when he was still a teenager. He took part in the freestyle competition for the first time when he was 12, and although he may not win any prizes, ever since then he begun his development and cultivation in the selected area. It became the major passion of the future star. We can not say whether he actually looked forward to making a stellar career back again, but you know, a little bird told me. Later this young talented rapper would be talked about throughout the whole city.
In 1994, the band «The Warlox» was established (later known as «The LOX»), whose founder Jadakiss was already quite popoular in narrow circles. Along with him, the group’s lineup consisted of Styles P and Sheek Louch who were faithful companions of Jason’s. Artists had managed to sign a contract with Bad Boy Entertainment, a record label under which they began recording and releasing their first professional singles. The now deceased Notorious BIG played an important role in the formation of Jadakiss as rap artist. Notorious was really generous with compliments for the young performer. They even began working together, but their collaboration was interrupted by the Notorius’s death. Nevertheless, this sad setback has been replaced by a true triumph - a song called «Well Always Love Big Poppa», dedicated to the death of the famous rapper, became a hit and received multi-platinum status.
In 1998 after the release of the album «Money, Power, Respect» the band did not want to continue their cooperation with Bad Boy Entertainment and went on to conquer new horizons. However, Jadakiss himself decided that it was time to embark on a solo career and that was exactly what he did in the summer 2001. Unfortunately, the work under the name «Kiss The Game Goodbye», appeared to be a real failure. However, the artist took the criticism quite well, explaining that he would take all the mistakes into consideration and he would try not to repeat them in his future release.
Jadakiss recorded his second album, titled «Kiss Of Death» in close collaboration with his own fans, asking them advice about the form and the content of the forthcoming album. Many rapper’s fans agreed that the artist should reflect more personal, subjective, individual themes in his works, demonstrate his worldviews and processes occurring there. The result exceeded everyone’s expectations - the song «Why?» had seen the light of day, and a scandal soon broke around it. Jadakiss accused the United States President George Bush of being involved in the September 11th tragedy. It eventually found its response not only in numerous media outlets, but also on the radio, where this song was banned from playing on the air. But, as we all know, the forbidden fruit is sweet...
The album featured the famous pop diva Mariah Carey, together with whom Jadakiss recorded his commercially successful single, «You Make Me Wanna». Eventually, the album «Kiss Of Death» proved to be selling much better than its predecessor, and it was able to be certified as “platinum”. This led to general recognition of the fact that Jadakiss is a true solo artist now, and all his success depends only on himself, his talent and hard work.
