Kesha is a young American singer and songwriter, who is Lady Gaga’s main competitress in shock value.
She is not a lucky person, who once captured the attention of a mighty producer that turned her into a superstar. Kesha’s way to the world of celebrities was hard. Her family was not rich and she had to obtain her targets on its own, without any support. Her love to music was inherited from her mother, who was a singer. Kesha spent her childhood behind the scenes of the music world, including record studios, where she tried herself as a background singer.
At the age of 17 the future star decided to devote herself to the music career. At first, she had a tough time – for some time she worked as a waitress in order to stay up. But Kesha continued her way to the target and worked with record studios and musical producers, and wrote songs for different artists. At that period her most important developments were the work at Britney Spears’ song «Lace and Leather» (2008) and acting in Katy Perry’s video clip «I Kissed a Girl».
The strong personality and talent of this eccentric girl captured the attention of experienced producers. Record of the song «Right Round» (2009) featuring the rapper Flo Rida can be regarded as the starting point of Kesha’s success. Kesha refused from acting in the video to this song, although, she did not stay unnoticed and the song itself became a hit. Later on, Kesha signed to the producer DrLuke and the Record Company, and released her first single «Tik Tok» from her debut album Animal (2010). The phenomenon of Kesha’s popularity is difficult to explain. She does not stick to a certain music style. But her songs turned to be popular. The single «Tik Tok» just blew world hit-parades. In 2010, her first album was nominated for various prestigious awards. Kesha is a controversial personality for music critics – her appearances in public shock people constantly, her behavior on the stage can excite disgust, she tends to tell different fairytales and even absurd stories about her life.
In 2010, the album Animal was reissued and Kesha released an album Cannibal, which included tracks from the first album and remixes of nine new songs. The first single «We R Who We R» was released in the end of 2010.
Also, Kesha is popular as an invited artist – she has already worked with such stars as Pitbull, Taio Cruz, Britney Spears, and Flo Rida.
