Laura Pausini
Laura Pausini is an Italian singer, who produces music mainly in Italian, Spanish, French, and Portuguese languages. Her father, a musician, wanted her daughter to be a singer. Laura used songs of Barbara Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald, Tina Turner, Liza Minelli, and Edith Piaf but, later, she began to sing only in Italian. When she participated in the music competition in 1991, Laura captured the attention of producers and they offered her to record several songs. One of such songs was «La Solitudine», which is still considered to be one of the best works of the Italian singer. After the victory, Laura recorded an album in the record studio, which was released in 1993 and titled Laura Pausini. The first album and also the second one, titled Laura, were a great commercial success. CDs were sold out in Italy and France. Bathing in the success, Laura recorded her first Spanish language album Laura Pausini (1994), which included adapted versions of ten songs from two first albums (in Italian). The album was very popular with fans of the Spanish music. The single «Se fue» became one of the best songs of 1995 among other Latin-American hits of that year. Afterwards, she released three albums – Spanish language versions of her Italian albums – Las cosas que vives, Mi respuesta, and Entre tú y mil mares. The first English language song was Laura’s hit «La solitudine» titled «The Loneliness». In 1999, the famous tenor Luciano Pavarotti invited Laura to sing at his annual concert ‘Pavarotti and His Friends’. In 2002, Pausini released her first English language album From the Inside. The single «Surrender» became popular in Canada, USA, and other European countries. The album Escucha (2004) earned her two most prestigious music awards – Latin Grammy and Grammy Awards.
