Red Hot Chili Peppers

America presented the world with a famous music group Red Hot Chili Peppers in the early 80s when four friends decided to form their own rock band like many young people before them. In 1983, the Californian quartet, which was fated to be famous worldwide, performed in local clubs, including Rhythm Lounge that was popular with fans of the alternative music. That was the time when the guys got their first fans, and later, their number increased due to the obvious talent of the young artists. The music, they played, perfectly combined elements of punk rock and alternative rock. Also, the singers liked to make experiments with original and nonstandard soundings.

In 1984, after recording their first song, the guys signed a contract with EMI Record Company that resulted in changes in the lineup. As a drummer and guitarist of the band played also in another group, which signed a deal with a competing music label, they had to leave Red Hot Chili Peppers. They were replaced by Cliff Martinez (drummer) and Jack Sherman (guitarist). Namely this lineup tried to make the band known, presenting the debut album titled Red Hot Chili Peppers, which, despite all efforts of musicians and producers, failed.

The atmosphere in the band became tense that was reasoned by either the album’s failure or disputes with the producer. Soon after that, Sherman left the group but the ex-guitarist Hillel Slovak rejoined the band. Shortly following the guitarist, the band’s drummer, who left the group a year ago, came back to Red Hot Chili Peppers. After reuniting, the artists changed their producer and made another attempt to perform their second album Freaky Styley, which had already been more popular than the previous one.

In 1987, the Californian quartet recorded the third album The Uplift Mofo Party Plan featuring the third producer and, finally, it brought the band a sort of popularity. This album could not be called a sensation but it turned to be good-selling and, hence, rather profitable. Along with that, Red Hot Chili Peppers was on the lips of different music sets, and happiness seemed to be so close… But the band’s rise stopped with the death of the guitarist Slovak. Soon after him, the drummer, depressed by the death of colleague, left the group. In reality, this meant the disbandment that finally happened in 1987.

But the triumph of competitors was not long. The rest of the group decided to return to the work. After some time, the band recorded an album Mother’s Milk, devoted to Slovak’s memory, with a new guitarist and drummer. A list of songs from this album became hits, the sales increase, and signing a contract with Warner Broth Company became the team’s moment of glory. It was followed by the record of a new album Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik, which received the best comments of listeners and critics, and by the series of concerts around the country.

Soon, the lineup was changed again but it did not influence the popularity of the group. After a short band’s block, Red Hot Chili Peppers continued to work, releasing one album every 2-3 years, being nominated for different awards and prizes.

In 1999, their song “Scar Tissue” received a Grammy for The Best Rock Song and three years later, the band earned a Grammy in five nominations for the album Stadium Arcadium, which became The Album of the Year and also received an award for The Best Videoclip.
