Robbie Williams

Robbie Williams is one of the most famous and popular singer of Great Britain. At the age of sixteen he became one of the youngest members of the band Take That. During its existence Take That became popular both in England and worldwide. Within five years the band topped world hit parades and enslaved fans’ hearts. In 1995, Robbie Williams left the band. In 1996, Robbie released his first solo single, the cover version of George Michael’s song «Freedom». The new version of this song turned to be more successful and was second on the chart of Great Britain. But the first breakthrough in Robbie Williams’ solo career was the song «Angels», which in no time became the national hit of England and then reached the tops of all hit parades in Europe and Latin America. Namely this single made his debut album Life Thru a Lens (1997) known. The second album of the mega-popular artist was titled I've Been Expecting You and released in 1998. The first single was «Millenium», which became the first number one single in Robbie Williams’ solo career on the chart of Great Britain. The album became popular in other European countries due to such hits as «No Regrets» and «Strong».

In 1998, Robbie Williams was the best selling recording artist of England. The fourth single «She's the One» became the second number one single in Great Britain. The singer’s third album Sing When You Are Winning was released in 2000. The first single was «Rock DJ», which headed the British hit parade. This song, aside popularity, earned Robbie several prestigious awards (including MTV Europe Music Awards). The second single of the album was a duet with Kylie Minogue «Kids». The songs «Supreme», «Better Man» and «Eternity / The Road To Mandalay» also became hits. The last one was not included into the album but then it was listed in the album of the best hits. The next album was titled Swing When You Are Winning (2001). He was successful in England as well as in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, New Zealand, and other countries. This album included a duet with Nicole Kidman «Somethin' Stupid», which was number one on the British chart. The song «Beyond The Sea» became a soundtrack of the cartoon Finding Nemo. Robbie Williams recorded the most songs of his next album in Los Angeles. The first single «Feel» became the most successful international hit in the singer’s career. The album Escapology was released in 2002. The second single «Come Undone» made top ten worldwide. In 2003, Robbie Williams released his first live album Live at Knebworth. The album Greatest Hits, released in 2000, included, except famous hits, two new songs – «Radio» and «Misunderstood» (the soundtrack of the film Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason). In 2005, Robbie released his next successful creation – the album Intensive Care. All released singles – «Tripping», «Make Me Pure», «Advertising Space», and «Sin Sin Sin» became hits. The seventh studio album Rudebox (2006) did not equal the hopes in sales and was one of the worst works of the singer. In 2009, he released an album Reality Killed the Video Star. In 2010, the second album of hits In and Out of Consciousness: Greatest Hits 1990–2010 was released. This album included a new song «Shame» also.
