Wisin & Yandel
As often happens, Puerto-Rican duo Wisin & Yandel had to overcome a run of bad luck to reach success. First several albums of the reggaeton performers didn’t attract attention of the audience, but the duo kept on going their way.
Juan Luis Morera Luna (Wisin) and Llandel Veguilla Malavé Salazar (Yandel) started performing in 1998. They chose reggaeton as their working genre, a Puerto-Rican style originating from Latin-American music. During 2000-2004 Wisin & Yandel released four albums: «Los Reyes del Nuevo Milenio», «De Nuevos a Viejos», «Mi Vida... My Life» and «De Otra Manera», and they all failed their mission. First breakthrough of the band happened in 2005 with album «Pa'l Mundo» several songs from which, including hits like «Rakata» and «Llamé Pa' Verte (Bailando Sexy)», entered Latin charts in the USA. «Pa'l Mundo» was certified platinum four times and still is the most successful album of Wisin & Yandel.
On the wave of success the duo decided to open their own recording studio. On releasing test (for the studio) album «Los Vaqueros» (2006), Wisin & Yandel were satisfied with the result and recorded the next hit – «Wisin vs. Yandel: Los Extraterrestres» (2007), which also became multi-platinum. Critics noted that this album suited best the lovers of classic experiment-free reggaeton. Three singles from «Los Extraterrestres» were «Sexy Movimiento», «Oye, ¿Dónde Está El Amor?» and «Ahora Es».
«Wisin & Yandel Presentan: La Mente Maestra» (2008) didn’t attract some special attention, but this situation was quickly fixed by «La Revolución» (2009) which instantly got into the top ten of American and Mexican charts. These two albums triggered interest to the band in Latin America – album sales in Mexico first matched and then even surpassed American rates. «La Revolución» stands out with «Mujeres in the Club», «Abusadora» and «Gracias a Ti».
The most recent album of Wisin & Yandel is called «Los Vaqueros: El Regresо» (2011). As well as its predecessor, it took top positions in charts and got warm reviews of the critics, advising it to all reggaeton lovers. The album yielded two singles: «Zun Zun Rompiendo Caderas» and «Tu Olor».
