Pitbull
Pitbull is a stage name of American rapper and songwriter Armando Christian Pérez . The performer himself explains his stage name, saying that «pit bulls are trained to grab and not let go. These dogs are too stupid to lose. We have a lot in common». Pitbull’s music career started in 2004 with his debut album «M.I.A.M.I.» (Money Is a Major Issue) that peaked at #14 in American chart and was certified gold. The singles from the album included «Culo», «That's Nasty», «Back Up», «Toma» and «Dammit Man».
In 2006 the entertainer released his second album «El Mariel». The rapper dedicated it to his late father who died shortly before. The album wasn’t an extraordinary success and sank well to oblivion, hardly selling two hundred thousand copies. The same destiny awaited his third album «The Boatlift» (2007).
First more or less noticeable success came to the performer after the release of fourth album «Rebelution» (2009). By that moment Perez got signed to a larger record label and also started his own one. The album had five singles: «Krazy», «I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)», «Hotel Room Service», «Shut It Down» and «Can't Stop Me Now», and reached #8 in American chart and suddenly hit Canada, Mexico and Europe, getting a gold status like the debut one. In this respect (and also remembering about his Cuban roots), Pitbull decided to make the next album completely in Spanish. «Armando», named not after the performer, but his father, was released in 2010 and got seven Latin Billboard nominations.
On finishing with Latin American market, the entertainer got back to the English-speaking market and invited many famous producers and performers to work on the next album, and every track was made as a potential single. Thorough preparation had a beneficial effect on the result: «Planet Pit» (2011) reached #7 in American charts and is now the most successful album of the rapper, being certified platinum in Canada and having sold over three hundred thousand copies in the USA. In «Planet Pit» Perez worked with Ne-Yo, Enrique Iglesias, Jamie Foxx, Chris Brown, Kelly Rowland and others. The album got rather positive reviews, saying that a long list of guest stars made «Planet Pit» a kind of compilation of the best hits and a potential bestseller. The album yielded four singles: «Hey Baby (Drop It to the Floor)», «Give Me Everything», «Rain Over Me» and «International Love».
