Ting Tings
«The Ting Tings» are an English music duo formed in 2006, comprising Katie White (vocals and guitar) and Jules de Martino, who, in addition to the role of lead singer and guitarist, took over the drummer’s part. By the time of the group formation, Katie and Jules were not newcomers in the music world, each of them had previous victories and defeats, as well as good playing and singing skills. They both were aware about the preferences of the British music lovers and the idea what the truly great music should sound like.
Probably that's why the beginning of the project was very successful - young but already experienced musicians released their third studio album in a row and it immediately broke through into the top of national charts. The composition under the name «That`s Not My Name» hit the nail on the head, despite the fact that it took the band two whole years since their formation to gain their first victory. This composition became a hit right away, and «The Ting Tings» members realized that all their efforts were not in vain.
Elated by their success, «The Ting Tings» soon released their debut album titled «We Started Nothing», which also has become popular among the British music lovers. In just a year, over a 400,000 copies were sold. However, some experts’ opinions were drastically different from the general admiration – while some critics gave the duo’s work a solid top five, others gave it only three stars out of five.
However it didn’t prevent «The Ting Tings» from beginning work on their next album at the beginning of the 2009. According to information which has leaked to the media, such artists as Jay-Z and Rihanna are invited for collaboration. Although, the album has yet to be released, and there is no proven information about whether the band continues to work on it and the musicians are doing at the moment.
The duo’s club activity however, has always been in the public eye – «The Ting Tings» performances has always win all the dance floors, they have played at private parties and the numerous major festivals. It seems that a decent future lies ahead of them. Fans of this humble but talented group look forward to hearing more of their music. Here’s hoping that «The Ting Tings» will continue to make music and eventually achieve an even wider acceptance.
